GroupTrack is a mobile application for off-grid group coordination. It enables real-time position awareness over LoRa mesh radio, organized ride management, and offline map navigation for outdoor activities including off-road driving, hiking, mountain biking, overlanding, and search and rescue.
This privacy policy explains what information GroupTrack collects, how it is used, and how it is shared. It applies to the GroupTrack Android application and the GroupTrack website at grouptrack.org.
Account Information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier. This information is stored on our servers to create and manage your GroupTrack account.
Location Data. GroupTrack uses your device's GPS to display your position on the map, record tracks, and share your location with other riders in your convoy via mesh radio. GPS data is processed on your device and transmitted directly between radios — it does not pass through our servers during a ride. Recorded GPS tracks are stored locally on your device. If you choose to donate a track after an organized ride, that track file is uploaded to our servers.
Ride and Enrollment Data. When you create a ride, enroll in a ride, accept an invite, or follow an organizer, those actions are recorded on our servers to coordinate ride logistics between participants.
Device Information. We collect basic device information for app functionality and crash reporting, including device model, Android version, and app version. This is handled through Google Firebase Crashlytics.
Map Tile Downloads. When you download offline map tiles, requests are sent to third-party tile providers (such as Esri). These requests include the geographic coordinates of the area you are downloading. GroupTrack does not control the privacy practices of these tile providers.

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your information to third parties.
With Ride Organizers. When you follow an organizer or enroll in a ride, your name and email address are visible to the ride organizer. This enables the organizer to communicate with participants about ride logistics.
With Other Riders. During an active ride, your GPS position is shared with other riders in your convoy via mesh radio. This sharing happens directly between devices over radio — it does not pass through our servers.
With Service Providers. We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host our backend infrastructure and Google Firebase for crash reporting. These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies.
Track Donations. If you choose to donate a GPS track after an organized ride, that track becomes available in the community track library for other users to download. Track donations are always optional and require your explicit consent.
We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
Account and ride data are stored on servers hosted by Amazon Web Services in the United States (us-east-1 region). GPS tracks and offline map tiles are stored locally on your device.
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/SSL), database access controls, and secure authentication via Google Sign-In. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Offline Use. You can use GroupTrack's offline features — map tile download, radio configuration, GPS track recording, and GPX/KML file import — without signing in or creating an account. No personal information is collected in offline-only mode.
Track Donations. Sharing your GPS track with the community is always optional. You choose whether to donate a track at the end of each organized ride.
Account Deletion. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@grouptrack.org.
Email Communications. You can opt out of organizer broadcast emails through your profile settings.
GroupTrack is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete that information.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The app will prompt you to review and accept the updated policy on your next launch after any changes. The effective date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
